World AIDS Day Opening Ceremony

  • Woodlawn Pointe 702 Donaldson Avenue San Antonio, TX, 78201 United States (map)

Fiesta Youth and Living Positive San Antonio are bringing the community together for a meaningful World AIDS Day gathering at Woodlawn Pointe. The evening centers on remembrance, education, and visibility — reflecting both the history of the HIV/AIDS movement and the ongoing work happening in San Antonio today.

The program begins with a vigil and remembrance walk at 6 p.m., guided by the City of San Antonio. From there, attendees will move into the opening ceremony at 7 p.m., which includes a special showing of panels from the National AIDS Memorial Quilt — a powerful tribute to lives lost and the communities forever changed.

A panel discussion at 7:30 p.m. brings together local voices to talk about lived experience, advocacy, stigma, and the future of HIV prevention and care. The night closes with community entertainment at 8 p.m., creating a space not only for reflection but for connection and hope.

This event invites everyone — LGBTQ+ youth, allies, survivors, advocates, and families — to honor the past, support those living with HIV today, and commit to a future rooted in compassion and health equity.
